Teams to Watch: New York Jets

The New York Jets are one of the hottest teams in the NFL this year.  They are making headlines because of their record, their young quarterback, their outspoken coach, and their recent HBO show.  In addition, they should be receiving more attention for their social media presence.  Specifically, the Jets have one of the most innovative Facebook pages in the sports industry.

The Jets Facebook page is constantly pushing the envelope in terms of traditional Facebook marketing.  Keep an eye on this page if you want to see where the industry is heading.

Finally, one of my favorite parts of the Jets Facebook page is the Twitter integration.  The Jets understand that social media platforms are interconnected and that the most effective way to leverage a social media marketing campaign is to utilize all forms of social media.  The Jets do a great job of promoting their Twitter account throughout their Facebook page.

One of the most creative ways Twitter is integrated into the Facebook page is through the 'Players' tab.  The Jets list all players on the team that are using social media (either Twitter or Facebook) and then embed direct links to the specific player accounts.  Social media is ideal for sports marketing because it is so far reaching.  Fans not only have the opportunity to follow their favorite teams, but they can see what their favorite athletes are doing as well.  The Jets understand this and have incorporated their individual athletes into the team page.  This is one of the most innovative, fan-friendly Facebook features available.
